Clarksburg, Maryland is an unincorporated community located in Montgomery County with a population of over 15,000 people. Clarksburg was named after early American settler and trader, John Clark. Clark’s grandson, Jamie, built the first general store in the community around 1770 and was appointed as the first postmaster of Clarksburg.
Clarksburg has had major growth since 2000 with a new town center built near the original historical location. The historical site dates back to the Revolutionary War era and attracts tourism to the community.
